  • i’m going to learn more!

right now, this website is built with wordpress. i have two pages that aren’t – sulley.xyz/sp and sulley.xyz – but the rest is. aaaand it looks it. it feels to me that the little “Designed with WordPress” in the bottom right is a little redundant.
and i don’t really like that. i made this website because i don’t want to use social media platforms to share stuff (for any number of reasons) and wanted to make my own website, but this website is still using a whole ecosystem i don’t really have that much control over.
it’ll take a lot of learning and it’ll probably technically be “worse” than this, but i want to make it myself and make it my own. we’ll see what that leads to! maybe without the walled garden of a wordpress blog, i’ll try ideas i wouldn’t otherwise; they’ll probably not work and be silly, but they’ll be mine.
so, i’m going to do that *some time* who knows when.
  • imbolc with people

    imbolc with people

going to bed today very sore, with the knowledge i’ll be even more so tomorrow. today was the imbolc faction fest with my irish stick fighting school. lots of learning and practicing, swinging sticks, dancing sharing good food, crafting. in all, a lively time with more to come tomorrow. grateful to have found spaces which center transness and which imagine & create a world as it light to be

our imbolc “bonfire.” far too cold to be out for a proper one, so we made do
  • snowed in!

    snowed in!

this weekend saw lots of snow, here. then lots of sleet on top of it, unfortunately. we made ourselves cozy with fresh bread and beef bourguignon.

my kid is getting antsy after two days of missed school, but we’re occupying ourselves with lots of coloring, games, and movies.

here’s a little dark eyed junco foraging for seeds below a bush thoroughly claimed by a group of house sparrows

    baltimore museum of industry

is pretty cool. lots of big old machines to see (apparently they do guided tours where they turn some of the machines on occasionally, hoping to see that next time). apparently there were a lot of firsts in baltimore, like the first umbrella with dye other than black that wouldn’t bleed, and at one time the majority of hats sold in america were made here.

  • no more instagram

i’m off instagram; account fully deleted. i didn’t post anymore, mostly just used it to keep track of local events & some news sources.

time to start looking for flyers around the neighborhood to see what’s happening.
so i guess if you desperately need to send me something, screen record it and email me or something

  • paper airplanes

    paper airplanes

    are pretty cool

i used to fold them all the time as a kid.

i had a klutz book with 10 designs. i read it a lot.

i also had a book by the guy who made a furthest distance flown record setting paper plane. i didn’t read that one very much.

i’m sure it was great & very interesting, but had story. i just wanted the plane details & instructions.

anyways. we’re at the maryland science center. on the second floor is a paper airplane launcher. it’s little table, or a podium, with a slot down the center. inside were spinning wheels & on the front a fan.

i wasn’t very good at it. my planes weren’t deep enough to trigger the sensor, but it was still very cool.

anyways, paper airplanes are cool. i wonder if the library has that book.

trying to form the habit of being here

what’s the value in sharing publicly? i want to keep up with people i care about; i also want to share things i make, those probably shouldn’t be in the same space?

but i’m not going to make two places to share things, so this is it. for now.maybe.

here’s a photo of some vines that look much better if you can see red from green

i’m pretty bad at keeping up with journaling type practices.
